The catharsis hypothesis suggests that engaging in aggressive behavior, such as venting anger or frustration, can reduce the likelihood of future aggression by releasing built-up tension and emotions. This concept is often associated with the effect of tragedy in Greek drama, where the audience's emotional response to the events on stage would lead to a cathartic experience, leaving them feeling cleansed and uplifted. **
